A merchant or platform admin generates a cryptographic key pair — Ed25519, ECDSA-P384, RSA-4096, or quantum-resistant ML-DSA-65. The private key never leaves the secure environment. The public key is registered on the CHKPRO platform and used exclusively for verification.
Each physical label is assigned a globally unique UID. The platform constructs a canonical payload that binds the UID, product ID, batch ID, signing key ID and a precise timestamp. This payload is signed with the private key, producing a compact cryptographic signature that is encoded into the QR code. No two labels can share the same signature.
Labels are printed with tamper-evident material and applied to the product during packaging. The label carries the QR code linking to the CHKPRO verification endpoint. The label cannot be duplicated — any attempt to clone the QR code produces a different UID that fails verification, or triggers a multi-scan fraud flag.
The consumer scans the QR code with any smartphone camera — no app required. CHKPRO reconstructs the canonical payload from the database record and verifies the signature against the registered public key.
